Pupil-Led Conference
Growing pupil leadership opportunities has been a key focus of my work with one school over the past 12 months.
Working with groups of pupils on community, charity, environmental, food and enterprise projects has led to multiple new initiatives and helped create an environment where children feel confident to start something themselves, knowing they have the support to see their ideas through.
This work culminated in a pupil-led conference, bringing children from six local schools together to share their views on local, national and global issues and put plans in place for a collaborative project in 2026/27.
Young people deciding what they want to stand for, working together and putting the wheels in motion to take an idea from concept through to completion.
Staff 5k Fun Run
A school wanted to bring its staff together around a shared challenge while raising money for a charity that had supported a member of the school community.
I helped turn the idea into a 5K fun run in the local park. Staff took on the challenge after school, while pupils and members of the wider community came along to cheer them on and show their support.
The event raised funds for Cancer Research, but its impact went beyond the fundraising. Staff rediscovered their enjoyment of running and the event became the catalyst for further active challenges among the school team.
One idea created a fundraising event, a community moment and a new opportunity for staff to be active together.
Two day cycle challenge
Epic Two-Day Ride & Community Hike
Six members of staff took on an epic two-day cycling challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The challenge finished at a local football club, where they were met by more than 100 members of the community. From there, the group walked back to school together, creating a memorable shared experience for staff, pupils and the wider community.
The event raised money for an important cause, but its impact went much further. It brought people together, created a sense of shared achievement and gave the school community a story and experience they could all be part of.
A fundraising challenge became a powerful opportunity to connect staff, pupils and the wider community.
Luton–London–Cardiff–Edinburgh Relay
Six riders took on an incredible relay journey covering Luton–London–Cardiff–Edinburgh–Luton in just three and a half days.
The challenge was designed to push staff beyond their comfort zones, while using their determination and teamwork to inspire pupils and members of the wider community to set and achieve their own personal goals.
Funds were raised for CLIC Sargent, with the challenge culminating in a 30km staff hike and a family 5K trail that brought the wider school community together to celebrate.
What started as an ambitious fundraising challenge became a wider community experience, inspiring staff, pupils and families to challenge themselves and achieve something together.
60 Minutes for Luton
During lockdown, I brought together more than 800 teachers from over 30 schools to take part in a simple community-wide activity challenge.
Each participant completed 60 minutes of activity from home, with the schools working together to raise funds for a local charity supporting virtual learning in Luton.
Together, the schools raised more than £30,000.
What began as a simple idea became a large scale community campaign, connecting schools across Luton at a time when bringing people together was more important than ever.
